FIFA World Cup expected to exceed forecasts significantly, with revenue reaching $15 billion

PANews July 19 reports, citing The Guardian, that FIFA expects the total revenue of this World Cup—held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada—to reach $15 billion, significantly higher than the previous forecast of $11 billion. FIFA president Gianni Infantino has informed member associations of the relevant figures. The report says the tournament generated high income through hospitality services and ticket sales; FIFA does not regulate official secondary-market pricing, and charges 15% fees to both buyers and sellers for each ticket. For comparison, the 2022 Qatar World Cup, with 32 teams and 64 matches, generated total revenue of $5.769 billion, while this edition has expanded to 48 teams and 104 matches.
