PANews July 16, citing CoinDesk, reported that the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a non-binding resolution stating that FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) “in any circumstances” should not receive a presidential pardon or sentence reduction. The resolution was jointly proposed by Cynthia Lummis, a crypto industry advocate, and Ruben Gallego, a Democratic senator from Arizona, and was adopted by unanimous consent. SBF is currently serving a sentence until around 2044. In November 2023, he was convicted on seven counts related to the FTX collapse, and U.S. customers suffered losses of more than $8 billion. Trump previously said he has no intention to pardon SBF, after already pardoning Binance founder Changpeng Zhao and Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
