A man in the United States is suspected of using a video game malware to steal $220k worth of cryptocurrency.

PANews July 16, 2024, according to Decrypt, U.S. federal agents arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Wilkins of North Lauderdale, Florida, accusing him of participating in a scheme to hide malware used to steal cryptocurrency inside online video games. From May 2024 to February 2026, approximately 8,000 devices were “compromised,” infiltrating about 80 crypto wallets and stealing at least $220,000. Wilkins was charged with conspiracy to use a computer to obtain information for personal gain and could face up to 10 years in prison.
