Sell a house + borrow money! A Reddit user splashes $100k to all-in on Bitcoin: betting on turning things around after ten years

A Reddit user confessed that he sold off all assets in his name, stopped making retirement fund contributions, and even sold his old apartment in Delhi. From start to finish, he raised nearly $100k, converted it all into Bitcoin, and left a statement: “Pay off the debts, keep the Bitcoin, and come back to see it ten years later.”

Selling all his assets, stopping retirement fund contributions, and even selling his old apartment in Delhi, an anonymous user recently posted on the r/Bitcoin board, saying he raised about $95k in total—everything converted into Bitcoin—and he also added extra leverage on top. In the post, he wrote that he started buying around $100k worth of Bitcoin, gradually added more up to a peak around $126k, and when prices recently crashed, he added more again.

Betting big with leverage, he said this was a “calculated risk.”

“This is risky, but it’s calculated.” In the post, he admitted that his salary is enough to cover the monthly loan payments. Based on his calculations, he should be able to pay off all debts within two and a half years. He also stressed this was not an impulsive move; after years of studying Bitcoin, money, inflation, and scarcity, this is his strongest conviction yet.

“I don’t recommend anyone blindly copy this.” He wrote this caveat at the end of the post, and also left the declaration at the end of the post: “Pay off the debts, keep the Bitcoin, and come back to see it ten years later.” He said this might be the biggest mistake of his life, or it might rewrite the future of his family.

Slashed from $126k to $58k

The timing of this user’s bet happened to coincide with Bitcoin’s highly volatile period over the past year. Bitcoin surged to about $126k at one point in October 2025, then in the first half of 2026 it wrote one of the worst half-year lines in recent years. By late June, it once again plunged to about $58k, setting a 21-month low.

Based on the entry range he himself revealed, the portion bought above $100,000 is clearly down by more than 30%. Only the part where he “added at recent lows” could have possibly flipped from loss to profit—barely. Overall, this all-in wager is still mostly in an unrealized loss position for now.

But for this Reddit user, short-term price volatility likely isn’t the point—he is betting on the result ten years from now: whether his conviction can hold through the market cycle. Let’s keep watching to find out.
