The U.S. State Department advises U.S. citizens worldwide to stay vigilant: U.S. diplomatic facilities outside the Middle East have also become attack targets; groups that support Iran may target U.S. interests overseas, U.S.-related venues globally, or U.S. citizens.

The U.S. State Department posted a global security alert on its official website on the 18th, urging U.S. citizens worldwide to increase their vigilance.

The alert said that due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complicated, with the possibility of sudden escalation. U.S. citizens around the world, especially those in the Middle East, should stay alert and follow the news to learn about the latest developments.

The alert also said that U.S. citizens overseas should follow the safety warning guidelines issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Flight cancellations and phased airspace closures may disrupt travel. “U.S. diplomatic facilities, including in regions outside the Middle East, have become targets of attacks. Groups that support Iran may attack U.S. interests overseas, U.S.-related venues worldwide, or U.S. citizens.”
