#广场预测世界杯赢40000U World Cup Final—Spain vs Argentina
This is the most extreme “contradiction battle” of this World Cup. Argentina scored 19 goals to lead the scoring chart, while Spain conceded just 1 goal to top the defensive chart.
At 3:00 a.m. Beijing time on July 20, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, New York, will host the ultimate showdown of the 2026 World Cup—the clash between European champions Spain and defending champions Argentina. This is a peak matchup whose kickoff was delayed by four months by fate. The Euro-Asia Cup originally scheduled for this March was canceled due to developments in the Middle East. Now, two teams of champions meet again on the World Cup final stage. When Argentina, armed with the strongest offense, meets Spain, steadied by the most reliable defense, the “bullfighting” side is entering its best window to win its second World Cup title in history.
Semifinals: Two completely different paths to qualification
Spain showed convincing dominance in the semifinals. Facing France, the top title favorite, the bullfighting side routed them 2-0, completing a “three-kill” over France in all their semifinal competitions. Yamal won a penalty and Oyarzabal scored from a spot kick; Boro added a calm finish on a low push to widen the lead. Even more terrifying: France created zero clear scoring opportunities across the whole match, while Mbappé had three shots and zero on target. Spain proved with a textbook win that they are the most championship-shaped team in this World Cup.
Argentina’s qualification path, meanwhile, was full of drama. In the semifinal against England, Gordon opened the scoring first. Argentina only equalized in the 85th minute with a worldie from Enzo Fernández. Then in stoppage time, Lautaro rose to head home the winner in the second minute of added time. The defending champions again rescued the situation with a burst of intensity at the very last moment—half of Argentina’s goals in this World Cup came after the 75th minute. But this bumping-and-grinding route to qualification also exposed the team’s struggles when facing high-intensity challenges.
Match Preview for the Final: Spain’s confidence
Reason 1: Steel defense vs the spear of fatigue
This is the most extreme “contradiction battle” of this World Cup—Argentina scored 19 goals to lead the scoring chart, while Spain conceded just 1 goal to top the defensive chart. Spain kept six clean sheets in seven matches, becoming the first team in World Cup history to go six matches in a single tournament without conceding. The center-back partnership of Cubas and Laporte has been hailed as “the best center-back pairing of this World Cup.”
By contrast, although Argentina’s offense is sharp, its route to qualification came with huge costs. In four knockout matches, two went to extra time, while the other two only found winners against opponents with goals in stoppage time. Against Spain’s impregnable defense, Argentina is unlikely to pull off a late-game comeback the way it could against other opponents.
Reason 2: A generational gap in fitness advantage
Spain’s semifinal finished one day earlier than Argentina’s, giving them more time to rest and recover. More importantly, though, is squad age: Spain’s average starting age in the semifinal was only 26.6, while Argentina’s reached 29.3. The nearly three-year age difference, combined with one fewer day of rest, means Argentina will face a stern fitness test in the second half of the final. Spain’s possession-based control-and-pass system, however, is exactly the kind that excels at wearing opponents down through the ball.
Reason 3: Psychological hints from past head-to-heads
Across 14 historical meetings, the two teams are perfectly balanced: each has 6 wins, 2 draws, and 6 losses. But the most recent encounter—the friendly in March 2018—saw Spain crush Argentina 6-1. Even though Messi missed that match due to injury, the painful memory of 1-6 remains one of the darkest games in Argentina’s team history. Under the massive pressure of a final, that kind of psychological shadow may be magnified infinitely.
