Conflict updates
1. The U.S. military carried out attacks on Iran for the eighth consecutive night.

Strait of Hormuz
1. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The memorandum of understanding does not allow the U.S. to open independent parallel shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz.
2. U.S. Central Command: The U.S. military continues to strictly enforce the maritime blockade against Iran. As of July 18, U.S. Central Command had diverted 5 merchant ships and rendered 1 vessel inoperable.
3. Per Saudi state television: In a joint statement by the EU and Gulf states on the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation, they rejected any claims of the Strait involving “illegal sovereignty or control.” It called on Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz unconditionally, for free, and permanently.

2. The U.S. issued a global security alert, saying the Middle East situation may see unexpected escalation.
3. New York City Mayor: If Netanyahu attends the UN General Assembly in New York, he should be arrested for war crimes.
4. Russian Foreign Minister spoke by phone with the UAE’s Foreign Minister, emphasizing that the U.S. and Iran must cease fire and resume negotiations.
5. Per Jordan’s state news agency: Jordan intercepted and shot down four drones that entered its airspace.
6. Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan: Condemned the U.S. for misinterpreting the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding. The U.S. has no intention of making the agreement succeed.
7. Per Saudi media Haddas: Lebanon sources said the leadership of U.S. Central Command expects to visit Beirut next week to track the implementation of the framework agreement.
8. Per Lebanon’s National News Agency: Lebanon’s President Aoun has arrived in Washington and will begin meeting with Rubio the following day, and will meet with Trump next Tuesday.
9. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Strongly condemned Iran’s repeated attacks on Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
