Golden Finance reported that on July 19, the U.S. Central Command issued a statement on a social media platform saying that at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 18 (1:30 a.m. Tehran time on July 19, 6:00 a.m. Beijing time), at President Trump’s direction, the U.S. military began a new round of airstrikes against Iran, to “further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and rapidly punish the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—the armed group that attacked U.S. military personnel stationed in Jordan the day before.”
