Wu says he learned that Zcash founder Zooko posted a message explaining the Ironwood network upgrade. The upgrade is expected to be activated on July 28, which will lock the Orchard privacy pool that carries a potential risk of forged ZEC and enable the repaired new privacy pool. Previously, researchers found a critical vulnerability in the Orchard circuit that could potentially lead to forged ZEC, but the official said it believes the vulnerability is unlikely to have been exploited.

Hope everything goes smoothly after the Ironwood upgrade, and don’t let the community stay on edge again—after all, ZEC’s ecosystem can’t withstand repeated tinkering.

The fact that the vulnerability was discovered early and not exploited is lucky enough, but should the design review for the Orchard circuit be stricter?

The official says the vulnerability is unlikely to be exploited, but who knows? Back then, Ethereum’s vulnerability was said the same way—and it turned out… better to audit a few more rounds.
