Recently, I’ve been going back and forth between a few L2s and the mainnet, and honestly, it’s pretty annoying. The mainnet gas fluctuates a lot—during peak times, a single interaction can cost dozens of dollars. But on the L2 side, some bridges are slow, others have cross-chain fees that aren’t cheap either. And I keep seeing flame wars between different chains over things like TPS, fees, and ecosystem subsidies. In any case, on the user experience front, it doesn’t feel like we’ve reached an ideal state yet.

My own approach is pretty simple: if the activity is mainly on L2, then try to stay there and don’t keep shuttling back and forth. If interactions are only occasional, do them on the mainnet during low periods, or just wait until L2 gas stabilizes before moving. Either way, don’t chase cheaper options into peak congestion—if you see the network is clogged, just wait. Having alerts turned on is enough.

That’s it for now.
