Just saw an ERC20 transfer where the gas jumped to over 200. When I clicked in, I found two addresses were fighting over a mint quota. Honestly, I’ve already gotten used to this kind of congestion—nowadays, whenever the mainnet even slightly changes, my first reaction isn’t to rush in and grab it; it’s to switch to Arbitrum (Arb) or Optimism (OP) and check whether the same thing is happening there. It feels like Layer 2’s experience is already pretty solid—at least for small transactions, I basically send everything to L2, and only go back to the mainnet if I need to interact with a mainnet contract.

Recently I saw news about a certain jurisdiction adding taxes. To be honest, my expectations for deposits and withdrawals feel a bit delicate. In any case, if I can avoid routing through the mainnet, I will—so I don’t get hit by both gas fees and exchange-rate slippage at the same time.

As for why I can stay calm in situations like this—really, it’s because I set a hard rule: for any transaction above 50 gwei, I default to not acting and just wait for the next block. I’d rather be a bit slower than get impulsive. That’s it for now.
