Deep Tide TechFlow message: On July 18, according to Cointelegraph, the blockchain company Consensys earlier this year introduced a software development consultant using the alias Tyler Knapp through a reputable third-party service provider. Subsequent investigations found that he has links to North Korea. The person had access to parts of the company’s systems for about one month; the incident led Consensys to temporarily suspend product releases and launch an internal investigation.

Consensys’ General Counsel Matt Corva said that Knapp participated in the work only in a consulting capacity and never became a formal employee of the company. Consensys immediately terminated all his access after identifying a security risk and launched a comprehensive investigation. The investigation results showed that no assets or data were stolen, no malicious code deployment was found, and user security and assets were not affected.

Consensys said it will re-evaluate its outsourcing and personnel screening processes for engineering and software development work.
