Yesterday I accidentally copied the wrong contract address by mistake. Luckily, I have the habit of testing the waters first by sending 0.01 ETH—otherwise, it really would’ve been a close call. 😅 Then it made me think about all the recent Layer 2 back-and-forth arguments, all the talk about TPS, gas, and subsidies. But for ordinary people, what’s most practical is simply to see how to spend the little money in your wallet in a way that hurts the least. Mainnet is more expensive but reliable; Layer 2 is cheaper, but constantly hopping around is also a hassle. As for me, for small amounts I pick the chain with the lowest fees, and for big amounts I just stick with the mainnet—because that nerve-wracking experience is not something you can just shrug off or undo easily. As for the number-crunching, it’s basically just calculating a few extra steps of fees and waiting time—don’t let flashy subsidies lead you off course.
