In this year’s global livable cities ranking, the city with the fastest rise was actually Fuzhou.

Among the five fastest-rising cities, China accounts for four—Zhuhai, Wuxi, and Nanjing are also on the list.
The data comes from the Economist Intelligence Unit. This ranking scores 173 cities across five areas: healthcare, culture and environment, education, infrastructure, and social stability.
This year, China’s cities in the healthcare category all saw significant score increases. Behind this is the expansion of medical insurance coverage and the growth of community healthcare facilities.
The cities with the most noticeable declines are all in the Middle East.
Affected by the Iran war and drone attacks, Muscat, the capital of Oman, had the largest drop. Doha, the capital of Qatar, as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, also fell back.
