Just took a look at my wallet—gas is up again, and my nose is itching… Then I noticed the on-chain data I scanned was off by several seconds from what actually happened. Turns out the RPC node I was using queued me for so long I got sent to the ends of the earth. After all that, the so-called “real-time” on-chain activity is really just a delay filter—you might be seeing the “latest” transactions, but they could already be someone else’s leftovers. It also reminded me of something: those recent hype terms like “social mining” and “attention is mining” aren’t the same idea? The “buzz” you watch on your screen could be secondhand info that the nodes only pulled and spat out after they were done. Anyway, I’m used to it now: first check the block timestamps before trusting anything, otherwise it’s really easy to get led into a trap by lagging data.
