I just saw someone say that a protocol’s unlock information was out, so I went to check on-chain. The number shown didn’t match what the block explorer shows… The truth is, a lot of the time it’s not that the data is wrong—it’s that the “on-chain” you’re looking at already has a delay.

Is the node you’re using really yours? Is the RPC rate-limited? Does the indexer fall behind when blocks come in too fast? All of these can turn your “real-time” into “a few minutes ago.” Especially recently, staking unlocks and token unlock calendars have been brought up again and again. When people look at these numbers to make decisions, it’s easy to get swept up in anxiety. But let’s be blunt: what you see might already be leftovers from someone else.

Honestly, I’m feeling a bit low. It feels like the information gap in this space is always there—so even if you run your own node, you still might not be able to see the whole picture. But don’t despair too much either. Use more data sources and cross-verify—at least you can avoid some of the obvious traps. For me right now, it’s basically this: if I’m going to feel anxious from checking the calendar, I’d rather adjust my position to a level that lets me sleep at night.
