Just saw an old project release a new version and spark another tax controversy. Honestly, after eating too many of these “gossip” pieces, it’s a bit much. I’ve listed a few times an NFT worth 0.01 ETH, and when I tested a new protocol, I found that some markets had already switched to “default not charging royalties.” Creators who want to get paid have to personally track secondary transactions on-chain, using custom splits or a third-party donation address.

Sure, there are people who have managed to monetize attention via social tokens, but most of the time users rush in just to farm an airdrop and then leave. The royalty money is so small it barely even covers the gas. This… is actually kind of awkward. Not sure if it’s just me being overly sensitive like a hummingbird. For now, let’s leave it at that—no rush to draw a conclusion.
