BlockBeats message: July 18, Reuters reported that amid the continued escalation of tensions between the US and Iran, Pakistan has conveyed a clear position to Iran—any attack targeting Saudi Arabia will be regarded as an attack on Pakistan, a “red line” Pakistan cannot cross.

According to the report, the Pakistani government and military have communicated this stance to Iran’s top leadership. Under the joint strategic defense agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in 2025, any attack on either party will be considered aggression against both sides.

In addition, sources revealed that Iran has told the Houthis that if the US attacks Iran’s power facilities, the Houthis will consider blocking the Strait of Hormuz. It is currently claimed that the Houthis have deployed missiles and drones near the Strait of Hormuz.

Analysts believe that if both of the two major energy shipping routes—the Strait of Hormuz and the Strait of Mandeb—are blocked at the same time, the global energy supply chain and international shipping will face further disruption. Pakistan said it hopes all parties will exercise restraint and ease regional tensions through diplomatic means.
