The auction house had originally estimated it at $40k to $60k. 45 collectors kept bidding higher along the way, and it ultimately sold for 16 times the highest estimate.
Based on Sotheby’s highest estimate, this jacket was priced at a 1500% premium. In the same period, $NVDA ’s expected P/E ratio was only about 6% to 20% higher than the S&P 500.

Over more than a decade, Huang Renxun has worn similar black leather jackets to unveil NVIDIA new products, attend developer conferences, and announce major breakthroughs in AI, and he has also worn them to go to the street for a bowl of zhajiangmian. PSA, based on on-site photos, confirmed that Huang Renxun wore it at Hon Hai Technology Day on October 18, 2023. The signature on the jacket’s lining passed James Spence Authentication certification.
It originally came from a charity fundraising email sent by Long Journey Ventures. Eight hours after receiving the email, Huang Renxun agreed to donate the signed jacket, and the proceeds from the auction would be given to Edge Institute to fund young entrepreneurs, researchers, and related residency programs.
