This isn’t something I did, but it’s a story.

‌In the end, with the last $2,300, I started with $2,000 in. The ending was just as everyone expected: it went to zero. I’m a contract trading newbie. During the time I was at home after quitting my job, I kept using a demo account, going through countless rounds of going to zero. Every day, I had to reset it—sometimes several times. I repeated this back and forth for more than a month, until the beginning of the month.

At the start of the month, I spent two days turning the $60k in the demo account into $1 million. In that moment, I arrogantly thought I’d finally understood. On the 15th, I received my last month’s salary—totaling $5,600. I split it into two parts: $2,600 for daily expenses while going to work at the factory next, and $3,000 as the original trading capital.

At 7 p.m., my salary hit. At 7:30, after dinner, I couldn’t wait and deposited $3,000. I traded for the whole night, and somehow—without even realizing what happened—it was gone.

The next day, I fell into a struggle: should I deposit another $2,000? I was giving myself excuses. The first time, I definitely hadn’t been in the right mindset for trading on the demo account. This time, I definitely could. Even if I only profited $200 per day, I could take out $100, and then I wouldn’t have to live so tightly anymore. That’s how I convinced myself.

After not even a few trades, my account was left with only the last $280. In that moment, my whole head was blank. Lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling, I watched for a few minutes, then decided to go all-in. I didn’t set a stop-loss. I handed it over to fate—yet unexpectedly, I gained 130% and doubled. After taking profit, I opened another trade, and this one made over 80% in gains.

This time, Lady Luck stood on my side. I knew it was luck. After calming down, I actually found the same feeling I had when trading on the demo account. I entered my own trading “system,” and almost every trade would end up profiting and taking profit. After an entire night of battling, by 9 a.m., my principal had reached $4,800—exactly 20 times.

I admit: in that moment, I got cocky. And God punishes every arrogant person. Because of my arrogance—inner pride—one trade severely went wrong. My funds pulled back by 30%. From that moment on, everything changed: zero—the end.
