The data lag issue is really an old story. Around noon, I was watching the depth of a certain token suddenly freeze, and I thought it was a dump signal. Turns out—RPC rate limiting. By the time it refreshed, the price hadn’t moved at all. 😂
But then again, lately the rate-cut expectations and the US dollar index have both been rising, and risk assets have been bouncing along too. When macro sentiment is good, the data feed can still lag and stall on you—the order book depth from market makers is all delayed. Does this even count as a fake out? Anyway, I don’t believe in “always consensus”; I only trust the thin bit of liquidity you can actually exit with.
If I could keep just one habit, I’d choose to watch the order book depth—everything else is just nonsense.
