London stocks rose on the 17th.

The Financial Times’ 100-stock average index for the UK’s London stock market closed on the 17th at 10,600.37 points, up 28.13 points from the previous trading day, an increase of 0.27%. The three major European stock indexes moved in different directions that day. Among the constituents of the London stock market, the top five gainers were: National Grid, up 3.33%; British American Tobacco, up 2.95%; Severn Trent Water, up 2.89%; BAE Systems, up 2.51%; and energy supplier SSE, up 2.43%. The bottom five decliners were: luxury group Burberry, down 6.38%; Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, down 3.58%; car dealership group, down 3.51%; Polar Capital Technology Trust, down 2.86%; and mining company Antofagasta, down 2.70%. As for the other two major European indexes, France’s Paris stock market CAC 40 index closed at 8,338.81 points, down 39.05 points from the previous trading day, a decline of 0.47%; Germany’s Frankfurt stock market DAX index closed at 24,830.98 points, down 84.51 points from the previous trading day, a decline of 0.34%.
