France blocks prediction market Polymarket
BlockBeats, July 18: On July 17, French regulator ANJ said that Polymarket’s webpage will be blocked in France. Previously, in November 2024, the agency prohibited financial transactions with the website.
ANJ said that the website’s continued availability (real-time updates of odds for different events) constitutes advertising. Although trading is banned for French accounts, the number of times Polymarket’s website was accessed from French internet addresses has been rising, reaching 578,751 visits in June.
