Golden Finance reported that on July 17, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement on the 17th saying that, in response to a U.S. military attack on Iran’s southern non-military targets the previous night, the Revolutionary Guard launched ballistic missiles and drones in two phases, destroying multiple U.S. air refueling tankers and fighter jets. The statement said that on the night of the 16th, the U.S. military used military bases in Jordan to attack multiple non-military targets in Iran’s southern Abbas Port, including bridges, residential areas, and a water pump station. The statement did not mention the specific time when the Revolutionary Guard carried out its counterattack. According to multiple Iranian media outlets, including the Tasnim News Agency, on the evening of the 16th the U.S. military attacked infrastructure in southern Iran such as airports, bridges, and train stations, causing casualties among multiple people.
