Gemini 3.5 Pro delayed by several months; internal performance reportedly not as good as Muse Spark

According to Beating monitoring, Google’s flagship model Gemini 3.5 Pro has been delayed by several months. Google originally planned to launch it in June, but its coding ability has repeatedly failed to meet internal targets. After updating the training data in late June, the results still were not satisfactory.

APPSO cites insiders as saying that the latest evaluation of 3.5 Pro may even be worse than Meta’s Muse Spark. Testing permissions for some employees in related business units have been revoked in recent days; only the model team can continue to use and view the evaluation results.

APPSO also says that the morale of teams related to Gemini is low. Some employees worry about team integration and layoffs, and have started considering joining other AI labs. Recently, Noam Shazeer moved to OpenAI, and AlphaFold core researcher John Jumper also left Google to join Anthropic.

However, there is currently no reliable evidence for claims that 3.5 Pro has been canceled. Google responded that the model is still being tested with partners, and that it is also testing upgraded versions of models such as Flash.
