The U.S. military has carried out airstrikes on southern Iran for six consecutive nights. The U.S. Central Command confirmed that this round of strikes focused on bridges and the port communications hub in Hormozgan Province. Iran reported that the attacks killed 1 civilian and injured 7 people, and announced that it shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone in retaliation. Meanwhile, the U.S. has implemented a maritime blockade policy, continuously intercepting all vessels heading to Iranian ports; the size of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been greatly reduced, and rising risk-aversion sentiment directly pushed international oil prices higher.

MQ-9s have all been shot down too—this conflict intensity isn’t small. If the Strait of Hormuz is blocked, global oil prices will have to shake as well.
