According to Beating monitoring by data, 29 countries signed an agreement to establish the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization. It is an intergovernmental international organization headquartered in Shanghai.

Founding members include China, Russia, Brazil, Cuba, Serbia, and other countries. Among them, there are 10 African countries and 12 Asian countries.

The organization will promote international AI cooperation, capacity building, and global governance. China proposed the establishment of this organization last year, and it has now officially gained support from the first batch of member countries.

China hopes to use open-source models and technology training to help countries in the Global South lower the barrier to using AI. The China-US AI competition, driven by companies and products, is also extending further to international organizations and rule-making.
