BlockBeats message, July 17, the UK police said three men were sentenced to prison for involvement in a cryptocurrency scam. The group stole crypto assets worth more than £4 million (about $5.4 million) from victims.

According to the investigation, the group posed as police officers and lured victims into visiting a forged police website. After victims operated on the fake site, the scammers obtained their crypto wallet information and transferred the assets, then laundered the funds through a complex financial network.

The UK police said the case once again highlights the risks of “social engineering attacks” and identity impersonation tactics in cryptocurrency scams, urging users to stay vigilant and not to enter wallet or account information through unverified websites.
