Is this fair? He only made $100k.

That old man made several hundred million dollars and nothing happened.
According to ABC News, citing people familiar with the matter, Gabriel Perez, a White House technology aide who has been operating the teleprompter for Trump since 2016, is accused of using advance access to prepared speech content to place bets in prediction markets on which words Trump would mention. Within three months, he placed bets on more than ten speeches and profited more than $100k. After the prediction market detected anomalies, it reported the matter to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); investigators also found that when Trump skipped parts of the script on the spot, Perez would sometimes exit the relevant bets during the speech.
Perez is currently in talks with regulators to settle the case, which could involve repaying the profits and promising not to carry out similar trades again. The Manhattan federal prosecutor declined to launch a criminal investigation, and the White House said it is cooperating with the CFTC.
