Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said on Wednesday that Anthropic’s various restrictions on queries from users submitted to its premium AI model Fable are completely unreasonable. According to the transcript of Nadella’s remarks, he told the software engineers working on Microsoft’s Copilot AI tool: “If you’ve used Fable, you’ll find that it inexplicably refuses all kinds of instructions. Tell me—when have you ever seen a creative tool subjected to such strict content control? This makes no sense at all.” A technical support page shows that when end users ask Fable questions about building large-scale models or other topics, Anthropic sometimes uses an older version of the model to generate responses.
