This short position finally came true. The pressure at the high of $ETH wasn’t just for show. A lot of people are still waiting for a pullback to keep pushing higher; back then, I was watching for the failure to hold after the volume increased above, and the price dropped from 2111.63 down to 1868.07. The short position’s profit is already at +2006.04%, and the market’s room to run was released very directly.
I’d already been paying attention to this level earlier. What truly made me confirm it was that the pullback kept getting weaker—the buying pressure couldn’t keep up, and once the order book got pressed, it just shattered. To put it plainly, the rhythm changed. It’s not that you call for shorts just because it looks like it’s falling; when something is off at the high, you decide on the direction first.
For brothers who already have positions, I think handling it in an 8/2 split is more comfortable: take most of the profit off first, then leave a smaller remaining position with a protective level to watch for the extension. Don’t let a single small rebound make you give the profits back. The hardest part about contracts is earning the money and then handing it back to the market.
If you didn’t catch it, don’t rush. Don’t chase the order, and don’t chase at the most emotional moment—wait for the next opportunity, and move only when it’s at a more comfortable level.
