The cost of imported cotton is 2,439–2,746 yuan per ton lower than the price of domestically produced cotton.

On July 15, within the quota (tariff 1%), medium-quality imported cotton had a duty-paid cost of 14,982 yuan per ton, which is 2,746 yuan per ton lower than domestically produced cotton, narrowing by 116 yuan per ton from the previous week. Under the sliding tariff (tariff 5% to 40%), imported cotton cost 15,289 yuan per ton, which is 2,439 yuan per ton lower than domestically produced cotton, narrowing by 129 yuan per ton from the previous week. Domestic prices fell more than overseas prices, and the price gap between domestic and international markets narrowed. (National Grain and Oils Information Center)
