Abstract generation in progress
According to Beating monitoring, Moon of Darkness officially released its new-generation flagship model Kimi K3. The model supports a 1 million token context window and can process text, images, and video at the same time. It is mainly aimed at long-duration programming, research, and knowledge work.

K3 has a total of 2.8 trillion parameters and uses a mixture-of-experts architecture. In each run, only 16 of the 896 experts are activated. Moon of Darkness says this is the first 3 trillion-level open model.

Official evaluations show that K3 surpasses Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 in some programming and Agent tests. Overall, it still trails Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol.

K3 is already live on Kimi, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and API. The API input price is $3 per 28k tokens, and the output price is $15.

However, the full weights are planned to be released no later than July 27.
