Golden Finance News reported that on July 17, crypto payments company BitPay announced that it has obtained approval from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets, securing a license as a crypto asset service provider, allowing it to operate in EU member states under the Crypto Asset Markets Regulation framework. BitPay said the license will support the company’s expansion of services in Europe, including crypto payments and stablecoin payments.
According to relevant requirements, starting from July 1, all entities providing crypto-related services must be brought under regulation. BitPay’s Europe head Jonathan Arler said Europe is one of the most important regions for the future development of payments. Previously, Ripple had announced that it received a crypto asset service provider license issued by Luxembourg’s financial regulator.
