Acquiring in an easier streamlined process sounds great, but modern Auto’s own car business is also undergoing a transition—so will sending robots out end up distracting attention? Still, if Atlas can truly do dangerous work for humans, it’s worth looking forward to.

Hyundai Motor’s acquisition of Boston Dynamics looks like a cross-industry move, but it’s really a bet on the future of logistics and manufacturing automation. However, there are still many pitfalls in monetizing the technology—such as cost, reliability, and adapting to real-world scenarios. Every step is difficult to take.
