Golden Finance reports that on July 17, local time on the 16th, an adviser to Iran’s top leader, Mehrbeh, posted on social media warning that the recent attacks in Ahvaz and Iran Shaher are part of the same operational context as the earlier attack on a school in Minab, with both targeting civilians. Mehrbeh said that the parties supporting the relevant attacks should recognize that attacks on Iran’s security and infrastructure could disrupt the entire region’s energy supply chain. He added that attacks on Iran’s infrastructure would have serious consequences for regional energy security.

Late on the evening of the 15th local time, a deputy governor of Iran’s Khuzestan province said that multiple places around the provincial capital, Ahvaz, were hit by U.S. military strikes. It was reported that several shells hit areas near a local hospital. Separately, on the 9th local time, a deputy governor of Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan province confirmed that the Iran Shaher airport was attacked in the early hours of that day, and that a firefighter died in the attack.
