Wu Says Learned that Pagga co-founder Alex posted on X that 1inch co-founder Anton Bukov has announced that he is leaving 1inch. Bukov previously handled the design of core architectures such as the 1inch Router, Fusion, and cross-chain Swap. At the end of November 2025, Bukov stopped participating in the company’s operations due to differences over the strategic direction and the leadership team, but he still retains the co-founder title and 50% equity, and will no longer be involved in operations, product architecture, or security-related work. At the same time, he announced the formation of a new independent DeFi infrastructure company, Second Tier, focusing on building a system that connects users’ economic intents to on-chain execution.

The key technical soul has left—will 1inch’s subsequent product iterations slow down?

A strategic disagreement led to a breakup, but the equity is still there—so you could call it a peaceful split. The new company sounds like it’s doing middleware, which is pretty interesting.

Anton Bukov led 1inch’s key routing and cross-chain solutions, and now he’s leaving to work on Second Tier. It sounds like he wants to break into the intent execution layer; if he can truly bridge the gap between users’ intent and on-chain actions, that’s an infrastructure-level opportunity—but losing him is also a significant loss for 1inch.

Keeping 50% equity but not doing any work—this co-founder model is pretty unusual. Wishing the new project, Second Tier, can come up with some real underlying innovations.
