Jin10 Data, July 17: Fed’s Logan said the Fed should raise interest rates to address persistently high inflation—an indication that she may be ready to oppose a decision later this month to keep rates unchanged. Logan said that the June inflation data released Tuesday showed price growth is slowing, but it is not enough to make her confident that inflation has returned to the Federal Reserve’s 2% target path. “The June CPI data indeed suggest inflation could return to target levels, with a more optimistic outlook,” Logan said. “But this path is still very fragile. At this point, I believe that a moderate increase in interest rates will help better balance the outlook and risks.”
