Wu says it learned that CoinGecko released its 2026 crypto Q2 report, showing that in 2026 Q2 (as of the end of June), the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies fell 12.6% to $2.1 trillion. Stablecoin market capitalization fell 1.6% to $305.1 billion, its first decline since Q3 2023. Prediction market nominal trading volume increased 48.7% quarter-on-quarter, and the total for 2026 Q2 reached $113.8 billion. CEX spot trading volume declined 27.9% to $1.95 trillion, including a monthly low of $620.0 billion in May, followed by a modest rebound to $695.0 billion in June. By contrast, centralized exchanges’ perpetual futures trading was more resilient: Q2 trading volume was $1.27 trillion, down only 10.0% quarter-on-quarter. Despite the overall market weakness, monthly trading volume for perpetual contracts still remained above $4.0 trillion.
