BREAKING: Volvo Group is testing its own crypto to pay suppliers on a closed blockchain.

Ivan Branco, who runs AI and analytics for Volvo Group Trucks Operations, confirmed it himself. Volvo built a sealed loop between itself, material suppliers, and transport suppliers using a currency it created just for that.
The driver isn't speculation. It's a liability. Branco pointed straight at Russia-Ukraine sanctions, Volvo needs proof its parts aren't ending up in Russia through resellers, or it eats the fine itself. A blockchain record that can't be altered solves that problem.
Still early, still just ideation. But Volvo Cars, the sister company, has run blockchain for cobalt tracing since 2019. This is the quiet version of corporate crypto adoption, no token, no listing, just a way to dodge a fine that regulators are about to make mandatory anyway.
