In a statement released on July 15 local time, the U.S. Central Command said that it concluded a round of overnight strike operations against Iran at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 15.
The statement said U.S. forces struck Iran’s command centers, air-defense positions, missile and drone facilities, as well as coastal surveillance facilities, aiming to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten the safety of crew members of merchant ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military used precision-guided munitions to strike targets at multiple locations, including the port of Abbas.

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards spokesperson wrote on social media early on the morning of the 16th, saying that Iran’s current actions are focused on destroying America’s “offensive infrastructure” in the region, and that subsequent actions would follow. The spokesperson wrote, “The enemy should not think it can continue to maintain the current battle posture and drag the war into a war of attrition.”
Soon after, the Kuwaiti military in a statement said it was intercepting Iranian drones. The Bahrain Ministry of Interior issued an air-raid alert, urging residents to seek shelter.
