The Bank of Korea raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 2.75%, marking its first rate hike since January 2023. Among 37 economists surveyed by Reuters beforehand, 36 expected the Bank of Korea to raise rates to that level, and the outcome matched market expectations.
