Deep Tide TechFlow news: On July 16, according to Cointelegraph, Rob Witoff, Coinbase’s platform lead, disclosed that 95% to 100% of the company’s code is currently assisted by large language models, up significantly from 40% earlier this February. AI has been deeply integrated into Coinbase’s day-to-day development process, with each engineer on average using 5 to 10 AI agents simultaneously to collectively complete the coding workload of about 1,200 employees.

Witoff said that critical modules such as core cryptographic algorithms still rely on human review, but prototype development has been fully automated. This shift allows Coinbase to operate with a leaner senior team, with 2 to 3 people able to do what previously required more than 10. The company laid off 700 employees this May, and CEO Brian Armstrong said it needs to “return to the speed of a startup with AI at the core.”
