Deep Tide TechFlow message: On July 16, according to CoinDesk, the Linux Foundation officially launched the x402 Foundation. Forty institutions, including Visa, Mastercard, Ripple, and others, became the first members, jointly promoting a standard for AI agents to use stablecoins for machine-to-machine payments.

The x402 protocol activates the HTTP 402 "Payment Required" code, enabling clients to pay small fees directly to servers using stablecoins such as USDC, without an account or any prior established relationship. Over the past 30 days, the protocol processed about 75 million transactions, totaling about $24 million, with an average payment of about 32 cents per transaction—providing the infrastructure for AI agents to autonomously carry out micropayments.
