Golden Finance reported that on July 15, according to Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun, SoftBank Group chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son said at SoftBank World, the company’s annual meeting held in Tokyo on Tuesday, that by 2040 AI agents will reach 100 trillion units, humanoid robots will reach 1 billion units, and AI will become “the largest industry in human history.” He noted that by 2040 AI will contribute about 20% of global GDP, and said, “When 100 trillion AI agents interact with each other, society will shift to being centered on agents rather than humans, and the world order will change completely.” Regarding the impact of humanoid robots, Son said robots can operate 24 hours a day, which is equivalent to 3 billion human workers, and they will perform tasks faster, more accurately, and more meticulously, becoming the core of the workforce. He also stressed that expanding data centers is key to realizing this vision, expecting that by 2040 power consumption will double, with about $5 trillion needed each year (800 trillion yen). On future business strategy, Son said the AI revolution should not be limited to Japan and that resources must be concentrated on the United States as the core battlefield. (Jin Ten)
