Golden Finance reported that on July 16, the Federal Reserve Beige Book showed that from late May to June, among 12 Federal Reserve districts, 11 reported economic activity growing at a slight to moderate pace, while the other district reported no change in economic activity. Overall prices rose moderately; of the 12 Fed districts, 9 reported moderate price increases, 2 saw stronger increases, 1 saw a smaller increase, and the overall increase was unchanged or slowed compared with the previous period. Employment overall rose somewhat: five districts reported employment growth that was moderate, mild, or solid, while in seven districts the changes were very small or no change. Businesses surveyed generally expected the economy to continue expanding over the coming months, but several districts noted that the outlook for fuel costs carries high uncertainty.
