Earlier on June 2, the AI giant Anthropic announced that it had secretly submitted a draft S-1 registration statement for an initial public offering (IPO) to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This listing application comes right after Anthropic just completed its Series H round of financing at the end of May 2026. In this funding round totaling up to $65 billion, Anthropic’s post-money valuation reached an astonishing $9650 billion, making it the private AI startup with the highest valuation in the world in one fell swoop, surpassing its competitor OpenAI. This round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, and attracted top-tier global strategic and financial investors, including Amazon, Google, and Singapore’s Temasek.
