#PreIPOsSeason2OpenAISubscription

OpenAI subscription opens in 5 hours — what actually changed this week

Gate’s pre-IPO subscription windows will officially open exactly 5 hours from now, and will run for 48 straight hours. You can subscribe using USDT or GUSD, and you’ll receive GT prize distribution (airdrop), plus a pleasant 3.8% mining/generation yield from GUSD, along with additional gifts for VIP5+ beneficiaries and Affiliate Ultras. The subscription page is now available if you want to get in early on this opportunity.

But while the world is focused on the countdown to the subscription window, I want to highlight what’s actually happening on OpenAI’s side this past week, because it matters in terms of how you should treat this opportunity.

First, they launched GPT-5.6 (their newest model at the front line) on July 9, and according to their metrics, they’re showing major improvements in programming and security testing compared to GPT-5.5. This is an important product milestone, not just a strategically planned temporary announcement timed to coincide with the subscription opening. On the other hand, there are pending investigations from 42 states by the state attorneys general, and it’s said they’ve now entered the stage of active subpoenas. As for the timing of the IPO, it’s still very divided.

Some trackers expect the roadshow to be in September, while others suggest the company may be inclined to push everything back until it reaches 2027.

Sam Altman, the CEO, is said to be unshakeable in his position that any valuation below $1 trillion is “unacceptable,” while the CFO is said to take a more patient approach due to the company’s current spending obligations. This isn’t settled internal agreement; it’s a real tug-of-war at the highest levels. My blunt advice to anyone subscribing today: you are not buying a guaranteed timetable; you are buying early access to a company that is launching a world-leading product at the same time, while also being constrained by regulatory and governance challenges.

Both things are true at the same time. And while the GT prize distribution and GUSD yield offer welcome diversification, don’t let the countdown rush prevent you from doing your homework on what you’re actually investing in before (and if) the IPO comes within the timeline you expect. I’ll subscribe with a small allocation, and I have a real long-term horizon in mind for this, rather than expecting a quick flip.

Will you subscribe within the next 48 hours? If so, what’s your expected holding period — a few months, or will you be ready to hold until 2027 if that’s the path it takes?
