Australia will set up an AI office to limit data center energy consumption

Mars Finance reported: Australian Prime Minister Albanese said on Wednesday (July 15) that the Australian government will establish an “Artificial Intelligence Office” to oversee the development of AI standards. It will also mandate that data centers become net energy producers and will limit water usage. The office will be set up under the Prime Minister’s Office to ensure all cabinet departments adopt a coordinated, whole-of-government response approach. Related legislation will be submitted to Parliament in early next year. (Finance and Securities)
