9 tips for natural account growth on Threads—thoughts collected to help you avoid detours

I’ve been on Threads for a while. Right now, I have 531 followers.
I’d like to share some of my own experience and insights, and also help everyone avoid going in circles.

1. Lock in your “positioning” and persona from the start
The algorithm loves “consistency.” The earlier you decide your main track (for example, stock investment notes for Taiwan stocks, workplace know-how, parenting principles, writing tips), the easier it is to get recommended to the right people.
Suggestion: start narrower, test for 1–2 months, then expand. Don’t post everything at the beginning.
(Many authors with over 10,000 followers emphasize: if the themes aren’t consistent, even if traffic is high, you won’t be able to keep followers.)

2. Interact a lot every day to build an “interaction network”
Threads is all about engagement. The Product Lead publicly said, “Reply Reply Reply.”
Every day, proactively go to the熱門 posts in your niche and leave genuine comments (not canned text). This often works better than posting by yourself. Comment weight is high—it can push your content to native audiences.
Goal: reply to 20–50+ posts every day.

3. Content playbook: pain point + actionable tips + value + emotion
High-traffic posts usually have these 4 elements (4 rules):
Pain point: nail the reader’s pain right in the opening
Actionable tips: provide checklists, steps, and keywords people can use immediately
Full of value: make people feel like they “learned something”
Emotional triggers: resonance, surprise, anger, nostalgia
The first three sentences decide life or death.

4. Write like you’re in a “chat room”—not too formal
Threads is like a big open chat room.
Writing mindset: treat your readers as a group of people who are slightly tipsy—simple, repetitive, strong pacing, with a punchline.
Use short sentences, break into paragraphs, write in a conversational tone. Too long, too academic, or too perfect and no one will read.

5. Prioritize formats: “lists + questions + stories”
The formats most likely to go viral:
Numbered lists (10 items, 5 truths…)
Question-based (“Have you ever…?”)
Personal story + lesson learned
Contrarian viewpoint
Pair with 1–2 emojis + an attention-grabbing image/meme, and completion rate improves a lot.

6. Stay highly active
The algorithm really values “activity.” If you disappear for too long (especially more than 1–2 days), traffic will drop noticeably.
Suggestion: post at three spread-out times—during early commuting, at lunchtime, and before bed.
After you post consistently for 3 months, the algorithm will start giving you more benefits.

7. Make good use of the comments section
When a post starts taking off, quickly pin a CTA (Call to Action) in your own comment section.
At the same time, actively reply to every comment. This can extend the post’s lifespan and increase visibility.

8. Regularly reference old posts + build series content
Great content deserves repeated exposure.
You can reference your old posts using “Further reading” or “Series Episode X” so it feels natural and won’t annoy people.
Suggestion: create “daily-type” and “weekly-type” series so followers develop the habit of keeping up.

9. Optimize your account front (Bio + pinned post)
For new visitors, what they see first is your Bio and your pinned post.
Bio should clearly say who I am.

Finally, I really welcome everyone to make friends on Threads—support each other and grow together.
